Kitty Ronan's Real Name - Edith Dresch

Whitechapel was the scene early on Friday morning of a brutal murder.
The victim, a young girl, twenty-two years of age, known as Kitty Roman, had for the past five weeks been living with a man at 11, Miller's-court, Duval-street, Whitechapel. She was said to be a flower girl. She is described as of a quiet, inoffensive disposition,
but was known to the police.
On Thursday, shortly before midnight, the girl was seen to return home with a strange man, and twenty minutes later he was seen to leave the house and walk sharply up Duval-street into Commercial-street.
The man with whom the woman had been living returned home half an hour later, and immediately rushed pale and trembling into the street, crying out that someone had cut Kitty's throat. A neighbour rushed upstairs and saw the girl lying on the bed, fully dressed, with
her throat cut.
It is believed from the position of the body and the absence of any sign of a struggle that the unfortunate girl was first strangled.
The body has been identified by Mrs. E. Dresch, of Probert-street, Hoxton, as that of her daughter, Edith E. Dresch, aged twenty-two. The mother had not heard from her daughter for two years.
Duval-street was formerly Dorset-street, the name having been changed owing to the notoriety which it obtained as the scene of one of the "Jack the Ripper" murders, Mary Ann Kelly having been done to death in the house next to that recently occupied by Edith Dresch.
